The Charles River Conservancy, a ten-year-old organization with the goal of making the Parklands more active and attractive, seeks an Associate Director for its seven-person office to oversee administration, finances, development and communication.

Responsibilities:

Tasks will vary and will include:

Administration:
-oversee staff and interns
-manage and track payroll and benefits
-work with board chair, co-chair and president to prepare board meetings and staff board committees
-oversee IT consultant and office management
-assist President with program oversight and development

Finances:
-staff Finance Committee
-draft and monitor annual budget
-oversee work of bookkeeper
-manage quarterly and annual financial reports
-work with accountant to prepare yearly audit

Development:
-work with fundraising committee chairs
-oversee grant writing
-oversee other development efforts (individual giving and corporate giving)
-assist with special events

Communications: (Until hiring of Outreach Coordinator)
-oversee website updates
-prepare monthly e-newsletter
-help in drafting/ editing of correspondence, press releases and of printed newsletter
-help writing grants

Associate Director reports directly to the President.
Some evening and weekend responsibilities at public events occasionally required.

Additional Qualifications:

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this position
will have several years experience in
non-profit management and will have
knowledge of Quickbooks and File
Maker, excellent verbal and written
communication skills, a mature
interpersonal style, a positive and
enthusiastic attitude, and a sense of
humor. The candidate must exercise
excellent judgment and discretion with
confidential or sensitive materials, be
able to manage multiple priorities, and
work effectively under tight deadlines.

This position requires great versatility
in support of the President’s public
communications, advocacy, proposal
development, and organizational
leadership roles. This position is
appropriate for well-organized and
motivated person willing to take on
both creative and logistical
challenges.
