This past weekend, Professor David Eckel continued his favorite tradition of bringing a group of Core students to see the Nutcracker at the Boston Opera House. The Nutcracker, of course, is a two-act ballet with a score by Pyotor Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Though the ballet was poorly received in its original run, it has proven enormously popular since the 1960’s, and is now performed by countless ballet companies, generally during the Christmas season. Major American ballet companies accrue up to 40 percent of their annual ticket revenues from performances of the Nutcracker (HTWp). We have included a couple of photos in this post, but if you’d like to see a bit more of the fun, check out Core’s Facebook page!
Welcome!
The Core Blog is a hub for information and media related to the CAS Core Curriculum at Boston University. It will be updated regularly, with photo galleries, interviews, links to related reading online, news of events or activities, and other kinds of content that help connect our Core people—prospective, current, and former students—with each other. You can stop by here once a week to scroll through the posts, or make this your homepage in order to keep your finger on the pulse of the Core. Either way, we hope you find this to be a pleasant way to strengthen your connection with the great people, the great books, and the great questions we encounter in the Core.Tags
