Happy April Terriers!
We are already off to an incredible start! This past weekend the BU Men and Women’s teams were thrilled to have our alumni come to play in the 9th annual Austin Brashears’ Alumni tournament! We want to thank all of the wonderful alumni again for coming out, supporting the Austin Brashears’ scholarship by raising $2,500, and keeping Austin’s memory alive!
This Wednesday (4/6) is Giving Day! Please look out on our social media pages for a link to donate to BU Women’s Water Polo to help us get some fresh caps and be able to continue traveling to compete in future seasons! We appreciate all of your wonderful support!
This weekend (4/9-4/10) we will be back in Williamstown competing against Dartmouth, University of Massachusetts Amherst, Williams, and Boston College! As this is our last tournament before champs, these games us an opportunity to solidify our place in our division.
Lastly, the end of the semester brings the end of the season as well. This means… Champs! The weekend of April 23-24 we will be heading over to Boston College for a challenging few days against our strongest competitors!
Spectators will be allowed at both of these upcoming tournaments so feel free to come make some noise for your favorite dawgs!
Welcome back from Spring Break Terriers! We have a busy second half of this semester with some really fun events coming up!
After our recent tournament at MIT this last weekend we will be spending the rest of March practicing hard to prepare for our upcoming tournament at Williams College April 9-10, our last tournament before Champs (which will be held at Boston College April 23-24. We are back in the pool for our official competition season! We are working har to prepare for a fun, competitive semester by incorporating full swim sets into our practices as well as lot's of scrimmages and time running through drills.

The rest of February and into March quiets down as we continue to work hard during our four two-hour practices a week to prepare for our next tournament April 9-10.
Stay tuned for more updates throughout the season!
Happy November everybody!
October was a crazy month! We had our first scrimmage of the semester against BC on October 24th and had our annual Halloween kickball game against the men's team. We got some great experience and have been continuing to learn how to work better as a team to prepare for our upcoming scrimmages this semester.
This upcoming Sunday (11/14), we welcome BC to Fitrec for another scrimmage. We are excited to invite BU students with green badges and masks, to come support us. Unfortunately we will not be able to have spectators outside of the BU student community due to COVID safety regulations. If you are not able to attend be sure to look out for updates on our instagram and facebook pages!
We look forward to more scrimmages after Thanksgiving break to get more experience in preparation for our season next semester!
Hope everyone enjoys a wonderful November/start to the holiday season!
It has been so great being back in the pool seeing returning faces and meeting all of our wonderful new members!
As we are finishing up our first month back at school and practice, we are preparing for our first scrimmage against BC. In just a few weeks we will be making our way over Chestnut Hill ready for action! We have been grinding hard in the pool every week (back to four practices a week!) while still keeping COVID precautions at top priority.
Let's have a great semester Dawgz!
As BU Women's Water Polo prepares to come back to Boston, we are getting ready to welcome new players to the pool! We are looking for anyone interested in joining our team: whether having never touched a water polo ball or having played for your whole life, all are welcome!
If you have any questions or are interested, please send us a message on any of our social media pages. Twitter: @BUWWaPo or instagram: @buwomenswapo or at email@example.com
Keep checking in for more updates about Splash and how we will adhere to the upcoming semesters COVID-19 guidelines!
We are looking forward to seeing everyone back on campus this fall!!
Yesterday (Sunday, 4/25) was our last practice of the spring semester. To recap, we were able to safely conduct nine (9) practices this semester! We are incredibly grateful to have been able to still practice given the pandemic. Many of our current players have taken the next steps and gotten vaccinated, while others are in the process of receiving/scheduling their doses! We are hopeful this, and other public health measures will allow us to resume normal water polo activities in the fall.
This past semester we were also able to welcome six (6) new players to the team which is so exciting given that we have nine (9) graduating seniors/graduate students (shoutout Andi Kokkinos).
Giving Day 2021 was also a success, as we raised just over $4,200 from 75+ donors! These donations will help keep the club thriving by paying for new water polo balls, tournament fees, travel fees, pool time, amongst many other necessary things. Regardless of how crazy this year has been, Women's Water Polo powered through and had a very successful year overall.
We will be holding Executive Board Elections for 2021-2022 school year later this week, so stay tuned to meet the new leaders! See above (from top to bottom): a snapshot of the team during the last leg set of the spring, some of the women from Cohort 3 smiling after the last practice, Giving Day Video 2021 Snapshot.
With final exams officially completed, many of our Terriers have returned home for winter break. We concluded practices on 11/22, the Sunday leading up to Thanksgiving to allow for those who wished to return home, to stay there, as per COVID-19 protocols.
Given the circumstances, we had a very successful Fall semester; with many new prospective members signing up, COVID safe practices, and virtual team bonding. We are looking forward to the Spring semester when we can hopefully welcome new members to practice with us. We hope everyone has a happy holiday season and a wonderful New Year! See you in 2021.

BU Women's Water Polo is back! After waiting for the "all clear" to begin practicing from Club Sports and finalizing COVID-19 practice protocols, the Dawgz have made their return to the water. Our first official practice back was on 10/18.
In order to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines, each player will have their own lane and their own ball for the entirety of practice. Furthermore, the team has been divided into cohorts of about 5 or 6 people to ensure social distancing. While this looks much different than our practices from the past, we absolutely LOVE being back in the water and practicing the sport we all love, and most importantly, being (safely) surrounded by the people we love!
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we were not able to accept new members for the Fall 2020 semester. While this was definitely an unforeseen obstacle, we are excited to hopefully welcome potential new players next semester!

Hello BUWWP fans! While there has been a brief hiatus from this page, we are determined to update this page and keep it consistently updated! Since our last post here over a year ago:
- At Splash 2019, we had 10+ new members sign up for Women's Water Polo! Some girls had prior experience playing while others just had swimming experience. We spent the Fall bonding as we had quickly grown to a team of just about 30 young women! Also new to the team is Assistant Coach, and BU Men's Water Polo Alumni, Ron Glandian.
- During Fall 2019, some of our new members took a day trip to Ipswich, MA for apple picking! We also volunteered for Hub on Wheels. Additionally, we participated in Halloween Kickball with the Men's Water Polo team, and Gaby Grund hosted the whole team for a Thanksgiving dinner.
- Due to COVID-19, our Spring 2020 semester was cut short. In the two months that we did have together, our new members tackled the challenge of being part of the team during our competitive season. The team also was present at BU's Club Sports Night at Case Gym on January 22nd!
- Our hard work and improvements made during the fall were on display at our lone tournament, hosted by Dartmouth College. The team finished the weekend with an impressive 3 wins against UMass, Dartmouth, and Williams, with 1 loss to crosstown rival Boston College. With the season ending prematurely, we were forced to say goodbye to our seniors: President Madie Janik, Sports Information Director/Social Chair and Co-Captain Macella Molenari, Vice President Gaby Grund, Co-Captain Mary Cerkvenik, and Andi Kokkinos (who faked us out by returning to BU for grad school!!).
- Summer 2020 was spent by many of our members working while following CDC guidelines of social distancing.
- Fall 2020 presents a unique challenge for the team as our practice schedule has been diminished due to the ongoing pandemic. We will continue preparing (safely) for our tentatively scheduled Spring 2021 season.
- With all of the uncertainty in the world right now, one sure thing is that our team is strong and resilient and will make it through this pandemic in unity.
