In addition to the timeline that Alicia posted, this article from BBC News has lots of information on the history of Rwandan conflict that preceded and followed the genocide. I found it helpful to ground myself in the world of Sense of an Ending. Here’s the link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/1288230.stm

Nancy Grossman gives a lovely review of Walking the Volcano, Jon Lipsky’s last play, starring our very own Jess Moss, Brian Vaughan, and Paula Langton and directed by Elaine Vaan Hogue. Grossman seems to truly understand the world of the play and hones in on the rawness and vibrant imagistic life that is so inherent in Lipsky’s work. Check it […]

Ben Brantley’s review of the Public Theater’s 2009 production of the Brother/Sister Plays includes some sound bites from Tarell Alvin McCraney and a slideshow of photos from the show. I found the review and all of the bonus bits on the page to be break open some of the questions I struggled with after reading […]

Jessica Rothenberg, SOT ’09, made her Off-Broadway debut this month in the Roundabout Theatre’s production of “The Dream of the Burning Boy.” I’m so excited to find out about former classmates kicking butt out in the world. Here’s the NY Times review: http://theater.nytimes.com/2011/03/24/theater/reviews/dream-of-the-burning-boy-from-roundabout-review.html?ref=theater

Here is a beautiful review of Jon Lipsky’s play, Living in Exile, playing through this weekend in Somerville and being performed by Actors’ Shakepeare Project. Quite a testament to the work of a brilliant teacher and a kind soul. He will be greatly missed. http://www.boston.com/ae/theater_arts/articles/2011/03/22/living_in_exile_reduces_the_iliad_in_size_but_not_in_strength/

I had the pleasure of seeing Sideshow Theatre Company’s production of Heddatron while in Chicago over spring break and was overjoyed to see such a bizarrely hilarious play at the Steppenwolf’s Garage Theatre. Imagine a depressed, pregnant Michigan housewife who gets kidnapped by robots, taken to a forest, and forced to recite Hedda Gabbler with said robots […]

As a person who has been enchanted by the story of Peter Pan for pretty much my entire life, I am always excited by new interpretations of the story. Peter and the Starcatcher, originally a book by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson that creates a “retrospective riff” on the story of the boy who will never […]

I found this interview with Aditi Brennan Kapil, who wrote Love Person, on Minnesota Original. It’s mostly about her newest play, Agnes Under the Big Top, but it also has some really interesting information about her upbringing and her way of working. It’s only eight minutes long and really gives a sense of who she […]

In Paris, Comédie-Française is putting on Un tramway nommé désir aka A Streetcar Named Desire in French AND in the Japanese Orientalist Style. I don’t know what to think of this, but it’s definitely going to be interesting. Check out the article here: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/15/arts/15comedie.html?_r=1

Jamie Nelson (listed in the article as James Patrick Nelson), SOT class of ’08 and one of the warmest, loveliest, and supportive people I’ve ever met, is cast in the Classic Stage Company’s current production of Three Sisters! I’m always so excited to hear about fellow SOTers finding success and happiness out in the world, especially when […]

This is the best play that I saw while abroad in London, and it’s coming to New York. When I told my best friend Austin, who lives in New York, that he HAD to go see this play, he said, “What’s it about?” I responded, “everything.” Read this, and go see it if you can!
