Back from Columbus Day Weekend

I had Corporations class at 8:30 this morning and realized how fast the four-day weekend had gone despite me not having class on Friday (typical 2L schedule) and Monday (Columbus Day). I went to Provincetown, which is at the very tip of Cape Cod, for the weekend. It was great to escape Boston and school for awhile, even if it was for only a weekend.

Although this time of year is the end of the vacation season on Cape Cod (it usually lasts from Memorial Day to Columbus Day) and it’s considerably cooler than in the summer time, there are a couple of advantages to going later in the year. First, there are less tourists (always a good thing). Second, you can get a full lobster dinner for $12 or so because restaurants have end of the season specials. With a prices like that, I had no choice but to stuff myself with lobster.

On the way there we saw signs for a vineyard and wine tastings and decided we had to stop there and see what this was all about. Surprisingly enough, it was a legitimate winery with nine varieties of wine (Truro Vineyards of Cape Cod; check it out: http://trurovineyardsofcapecod.com). I got to see a winemaker crushing grapes, but I was disappointed that he used a long pole to crush them instead of stomping on them with his feet. I’m going to California for spring break…maybe I’ll have better luck there….
