I’m writing this post as I am enjoying the 85 degree weather in India, far away from the massive snowstorms that seem to be all over the United States. My exams finished early and I got an extra week’s worth of vacation compared to my classmates. It was funny to read all the Facebook statuses whining about how many more exams someone had, how someone was done, how someone was sick of studying, etc.
I enjoy coming to India because it’s nice to get away from law school and the cold. I go back to India once or twice a year and I’m always amazed at how much it changes in just one year. I’m originally from Kerala, a state that is on the south west coast of India. It’s full of back waters, coconut trees, mountains and beaches. Most of my family, however, lives in Bangalore, the outsourcing and call center capital of the world and I’m spending most of my time there. Bangalore was once called the Garden City of India because it was quiet, had a moderate climate and was full of greenery. For some reason Microsoft, Intel and Co. decided to pick the city to establish huge tech centers. Fueled by this growth, the city has grown way too fast. Traffic is horrendous, the roads are too small for the amount of cars that are using them and there is just too much chaos.
I’ll leave you with some photos of Kerala that I took. The sad part is that I’m now finishing off a 20 page paper for my Housing Law class. It’s due on December 31st and the end is almost in sight. After New Year’s, however, I have to start working on the second draft of my journal note, which is due on January 15th…yikes!
