Melissa Rick is a third year law student at Boston University. Before coming to law school, she graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan with a degree in psychology and in political science. While attending BU, Melissa has participated in the Asylum, Immigration, and Human Rights Clinic where she represented several asylum seekers in different stages of their immigration process, including before the immigration court and the Immigration Board of Appeals. She now works as the research assistant for the Asylum, Immigration, and Human Rights Clinic Program. Because of her interest in international law, Melissa is also the research assistant for Professor Sloane at BU who specializes in international legal issues. In the Spring Semester of 2010, she will study at law at the University of Hong Kong.
During summer of her first year, Melissa was a summer associate at Barnes & Thornburg a Midwest firm located in Indianapolis, Indiana. The summer of her second year, she was a summer associate at Goodwin Procter in Boston. She plans on returning to Goodwin Procter after graduating and taking the bar exam as a business law associate.
Since moving to Boston in the fall of 2007, Melissa has resided in the Back Bay area of Boston. She enjoys exploring the city and running along the Charles River every morning.
