Daniela

Hey new COM students! My name is Dany Vasquez. I’m from beautiful, warm, and sunny Florida. I live in the suburbs of Fort Lauderdale, only about 25 minutes away from the beach. I was born in Venezuela, and I absolutely love my Spanish culture. Living in South Florida, which is a predominantly Hispanic region, definitely gives me a sense of home.

I’m a sophomore majoring in Public Relations, and I want to do a minor in International Relations. I’m interested in the Event Management and Entertainment side of PR. I would love to travel the world at some point, learn some new languages and experience other cultures. Hopefully, I’ll be able to study abroad in LA and/or London. I have a serious obsession with everything British (Harry Potter, Doctor Who, The Beatles, etc.) and a semester abroad there sounds just about perfect to me.

Here at BU, I’m mainly involved with Programming Council. It’s a great organization that is in charge of putting together a ton of awesome on-campus events throughout the year for students. I’m on the Executive Board with the position of Secretary and it’s been a fantastic experience. Along with being a COM Ambassador, I’m also an Admissions Ambassador which means I connect with prospective students and families by giving tours and sharing my experiences. I’m also involved with PRSSA, which is a great resource for internships and opportunities.

My spare time is filled with my favorite hobbies. I could spend the rest of my life reading and writing and be totally happy. I almost always have my nose buried in a book, and I’m always writing about something or other. I love photography, and I carry my Canon virtually everywhere. I’m also convinced I wouldn’t survive a day without music. To stay physically active, I play soccer and I’m on the BU Quidditch team. That’s right. Quidditch. It’s brilliant. Don’t underestimate it. As for soccer, it’s my passion. I’ve been playing my entire life, and I know I’ll never stop.

So feel free to reach out and talk to me about anything! Basically, I fell in love with BU and COM, and I haven’t looked back since. So congratulations and good luck! You guys are in for a phenomenal ride.
