The Terriers Round out Their Season

The end of the season felt grim as the Terriers reached their third consecutive NECBA Championship game.

After finishing the season at 8-1 (the only loss coming to a stephan-less Harvard Crimson), BU found its way to the #1 seed in the playoffs and set to face their old pals, the Catamounts of the University of Vermont. It took a stellar performance by Bowie Matteson on the mound and a team effort at the plate and it took the whole 7 innings before the Terriers were able to pull away, beating UVM 5-4.

The hard-fought game led to some letdown as the Terriers traveled to World Series Park to take on Bridgeton Academy. After a hard fought nine inning game, BU was not able to pull out the victory, falling to Bridgeton.

While it was not the end result that the Terriers were looking for, there was a lot to build on in this new season. Replacing eight Seniors the Terriers were able to overcome such turnover with additions of new players from Freshman through Juniors. The team has a lot to look forward to for next fall losing only Senior Captain Jeremy Hartman. Returning eight starters from this fall BU looks to continue its streak of reaching the NECBA Championship, looking to get back to its winning ways.

“It is a lot different walking away this season than it was last season. We left it all out on the field and have nothing to look back on and regret. We replaced eight seniors and have not taken a step behind, we just ran into a really good Bridgeton Club on a bad day for us” said Junior Captain Jordan Kessel “This team has a lot to be proud of and has a really good future ahead of it.”

The Terriers are looking forward to a spring schedule that will hopefully provide some fresh opponents including Penn State Wilkes-Barre, a varsity club, as well as possible trips to the University of Connecticut, and The College of New Jersey, along with the regular American Club Baseball Association schedule.
